"World's Biggest Problems"

1.     Global Water Crisis. As the world population increases, the water supply has decreased, and we find many underdeveloped countries with no clean water for it’s citizens. On the other spectrum, we find developed countries overusing their water supply.
a.     First, in order to find a solution, the developed countries should place a limitation on how much water a household can utilized during the day. In underdeveloped countries, corporations can invest in water plants, that will provide jobs to local community members and also provide a water supply.
2.     Racism and discrimination. Racism based on color is prevailing in the United States and around the world, and religion discrimination is affecting millions.
a.     Open-mindedness is a necessity in today’s world in order to bring humanity forward, and create a society where businesses and firms can prosper with a diverse population.
3.     Throughout the world, there is an income disparity problem that is affecting the middle class and lower class. More people are becoming wealthier, and the middle is shrinking and lower class increasing.
a.     In this section, I can speak from the United States perspective, and the cost of products are increasing dramatically and wages have not. Minimum wage has to be increased.
4.     Water contamination. As pollutants are poured into our atmosphere, and our water systems, drinkable water has become contaminated. This is not only seen in underdeveloped countries, but in developed countries such as the United States where water contamination is becoming an issue in cities such as Flint, Michigan
a.     Accountability from manufacturers, corporation, and government systems to stop contaminated the drinkable water.
5.     Refugees from Syria/Immigration. As millions of civilians from Syria are escaping their country’s situation. Some developed countries are accepting them in and others are not.
a.     There needs to be a unified agreement within developed countries for refugees to be given asylum, but in a well processed mannered where the potential refugees will be checked before being accepted into the country.
6.     Population growth. As the earth’s population grow, natural resources decrease.
a.     There needs to be more accountability from countries on how much natural resources they deplete in order to protect their future generations.
7.     Media has a large impact in society, and the lack of information has led to misinformed citizens.
a.     Laws that require the media to stop being biased on certain issues. Also, they need to provide the correct information on products.
8.     Hunger is not only in underdeveloped countries, but in developed ones as well. Everyday, kids go home from school hungry.
a.     Government systems, and corporations need to be aware of the issues and bring awareness.
9.     Gender inequality is still present throughout the world.
a.     Diversifying the workforce, and allowing women to break the glass ceiling. They have the same qualifications and they should be given the right to advance in the workforce.
10.  Armed violence around the world has caused mass shootings.

a.     Laws that prevent civilians to from obtaining guns, or stricter laws that will require those individuals to go through screening processes.

  1. Ana, great post! Very interesting choices of the world's biggest problems, many of them are similar to my own posts. For instance, I also recognized that the contamination of water, hunger, and population growth is a problem. Check it out at http://ent3003sinon.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems-according-to-me.html

I really like your mentioning of how media has an impact on society that's stronger than ever. Definitely something to think about as we consume so much media from all sides.

Really enjoyed your post and I have no critiques to give!

  2. Hey Ana I had a great time reading your post. My post actually contained some of the same problems that yours did. The main one being, water depletion. It really does seem as though one day society may be without water. That being said, there must be ways that we can try to limit the amount of water people consume. I also had population growth, if the population continues to grow so will poverty. Not only that, water will begin to deplete at a faster rate due to the fact that more sources are now draining it. What a scary thing to think that people need water to survive yet they are killing the thing that is keeping them alive. Great blog post, I left my blog url below.
