Elevator Pitch No.2

The feedback from my first “Elevator Pitch” was very helpful in understanding what I need to improve in my second pitch. The students were very honest, and gave me constructive criticism. A feedback that stood out as important was on expanding the explanation for the workshops, and how they will benefit my target market. Every feedback was very surprising because the students were very positive and their feedback was very helpful.

Based on the feedback, I expanded the explanation of my business to include a detailed explanation on the workshops and its benefits. Also, I expanded the business proposal to include not only minorities, but all backgrounds.
My No. 2 Elevator Pitch:
Good afternoon, my name is Ana Guevara, and today I will be speaking on my business proposal. Florida Financial Literacy Program is a non-profit venture that is designed to teach financial literacy to those who lack the proper knowledge to succeed in the American Economy. Our desired segments are minorities and college students, but everyone will be welcome.
My program will consist of workshops and a website where videos will be posted. Both the workshop and videos will teach individuals how to plan for retirement, budgeting, and taxes.
We will be located in Palm Beach County, and we will utilize the resources provided by community organizations to reach out to our target market.
Thank You!!

  1. Ana I think your idea of teaching financial literacy to people is great. There are too many young people that do not know how to balance a checkbook. When I was in high school it was required curriculum. After the financial crisis in 2007, many people did not know their financial options when faced with foreclosure and their retirement. Your idea would help with that. Great idea.

  2. Hey Ana,
I also think your idea serves for a great cause and I know that financial literacy is a huge problem not just among minorities and college students but plenty of American adults. I'm curious to what you would use for your financial teaching?
I can imagine that it would be smart to hire some financial professors or actual business owners who have done a great job being financially responsible. I really like your idea though, coming from a finance major. Check out mine:

  3. You have a wonderful idea, Ana. Furthermore, your pitch was concise and well explained. Similar to Bryan, financial literacy courses were provided at my high school. It was not required, yet after taking the elective course, I felt it should be for any young student. Your idea could reach a broad spectrum of individuals who lack the necessary financial understanding to reach their goals. The trick would be finding people whose experience and expertise are relatable to your target market. Great job. Check out my blog at http://mrufent.blogspot.com/

  4. Ana, I like the idea and I know that I, like many others, would benefit from this program. I think you did a good job on explaining your idea and describing the workshops better. My only question would be how much would each workshop cost and would there be a way to bundle several workshops into one price? Also, you could try to include guest speakers every once in awhile to entice people to keep coming back. Overall great job though and great idea!

  5. Hey Ana,
Great job on your pitch! I definitely think that this is a very good idea that many should take part in. There is definitely a great need for this service, especially among college students. One thing I have noticed among lower-class people is their budgeting skills. Some are extremely hard workers, no doubt. But many have frivolous spending, including very expensive phone bills just to prove that they are more "successful" than they actually are. I couldn't agree more with your idea. However, I would be interested in who would be running the videos. If it was you, I would not trust them, simply because you have very little experience and no credentials to your name. Other than that, keep up the great work! Here is the link to my elevator pitch! http://adventuresofentrepreneurship.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-2.html
