“Florida Financial Literacy Program” is a
non-profit venture I am currently working on. This program will provide an
education on financial literacy for the minority population and young people in
Palm Beach County. The program will consist of workshops on mortgages, tax
preparation, and budgeting, and much more. My program is a non-profit, and our
revenue drivers will consist of donations from those who will benefit of the
service. Also, government funding will allow the program to continue in the
county.
Even though our service will be free
to the public, there is one service that we can benefit from. During tax
season, we can prepare taxes for a small fee that will be affordable to the
community. The fees will allow us to continue to serve the community in Palm
Beach County, and also create two $500 scholarships. One for a graduating High
School senior, and the other for a transfer student from a community college.
Since it is a service venture, it is
not on Amazon. But tax preparation will allow for a revenue to come into the
program, and also fund the scholarships that the program will create for
students.
The tax preparation will be done by
volunteers that will be reached at a early time in order for them to prepare
and be on time. This is an additional service to the program, that will benefit
many in the community because of its’ affordability. Many cannot afford to get
their tax preparations done, and if there is a case where the person will not
be able to afford the fee, we will be willing to waive the fee according to
their income.

Hey Ana, I really like your business concept of being non-profit and helping a local community. There are many things to consider when having a business that runs on volunteers and donations, but you seem to have a pretty good idea of how to drive revenue and what you plan to do with it. Offering such services to individuals who may not be able to afford to have their taxes done is a great idea, as well as your kind heart of offering scholarships for students. I believe you did a great job on this assignment considering your business is purely service related and founded to help community members in need. My business is also a service business and here is the link to my “Amazon Whisperer” post: http://susanamorales0129.blogspot.com/2016/03/amazon-whisperer.html
ReplyDeleteHey Ana! You business concept sounds super doable and very rewarding to the community as a non-profit. They need more of your businesses in more cities. I agree with Susana above when she says theres a lot that goes into relying on volunteering and donations and the government but when all of those aspects pull through it would be successful. I love your idea and providing for those who can't when taxes are such a necessary thing. You can check out my Amazon Whisperer assignment at this link:

Hey Ana,
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I really like your concept and respect what you are trying to accomplish. I think this is very possible and will benefit lots of minorities. Are you genuinely working on it right now or just for the class? You seem like you have thought through some of the financial structure and where you produce revenue. Check out mine:

Hi Sawyer, this project is something I have been working on for over two years. But I had put it aside until this semester.
